How did another month go by? There have been a lot of firsts. Maren's first black eye, for one (which happened in front of four grandparents and a dad, and just goes to show you that you can't be prepared for everything). She tried the potty for the first time (no actual success, but hey! still good). She is newly, and completely, obsessed with Elmo. She loves to put all her toy babies and stuffed animals "ni-ni" by covering them with blankets, 'shhhing' them and patting them on the back. When she gets a new pair of shoes, she insists on carrying them around all day and wants to go to bed with them (a shoe-love she clearly inherited from her mother).
Lots of new words, too. Such as:
- Elmo
- squirrel
- Go!
- where's daddy?
- purple
- bubbles
- noodles
- mower (mo-mo: she loves to watch Daddy mow the lawn) (don't worry, grandmas, she is highly supervised)
- milk (pronounced, "mip")
- NO, MINE (said very loudly and with great force)
- ni-ni (night-night)
- baby (bee bee)
"Want to go to the park, Maren?" "WHEEE!"
Snacking al fresco
First watermelon (if you look closely, you can see the evidence of First Black Eye)
Fun on the indoor slide, a lovely hand-me-down gift from friends
