"my own sprinkler!"

Today it got abnormally hot for Seattle in June - almost 90 by the evening. So, time to pull out the sprinkler! Maren loved it. "MY OWN SPRINKLER!" she shouted joyfully, as if she had been waiting her whole life for just this moment.

We had hoped we might wear her out for bedtime, but here it is: 9:00pm, and she is still singing herself to sleep. Tonight's selection: "Where is Thumbkin?"

Oh well.

an early application to medical school

Dear Grown-Up Doctors,

My name is Maren. I am a doctor too! I got my white coat this week. It was very exciting. It is a little big for me, but I think I will grow into it.

I am already very good at practicing medicine. I know how to use my stethoscope, and I can take your temperature. Remember this scene from my birthday?

That is so six months ago. Now I know that the blood pressure cuff goes on your arm. Mostly.

Also, I can mix up medicine using my tea set and I am very good at putting blankets on my sick stuffed animals. I have opened my own medical practice in the tent in my room and I take care of all my baby dolls every day.

I am also a little bit bossy but maybe this will come in handy if I am running a whole medical practice. On the other hand, I am also pretty good at saying 'please' and 'thank you', and I really love to help, so those are good things.

So, grown-up doctors, if you need any help, you know where to find me.

Sincerely,
Doctor Maren.

P.S. I am also quite the burgeoning artist, so, grown-up artists: I can help you too.
